When so many people were celebrating the coming of the new millennium, what were you doing on 31Dec1999 ?
I like 'New Year' because I can regard it as a neutral but absolute cut of time and space as according to the Gregorian calendar. Unlike other occasions (say Christmas is joyful), it marks the transition of time, from the future to the present, from the present to the past, no matter you are spending your life happily, or unhappily. It is life, and it becomes your memory, and your history. No one can escape because you have no choice.
I am not trying to say something pessimistic. I always believe that what are doing now will affect what you will do in the future.
